A lead-in conduit provides an underground connection path from the property boundary to the location where the NBN box will be affixed. Any granny flat, dwelling, duplex etc. looking to connect with NBN will require its own lead-in conduit for connection.
An NBN trained pit & pipe supplier can install the lead-in ensuring it is in accordance with NBN standards for top network performance, avoiding service delays and costs associated with remediation works.
Yes, each service requires its own separate lead-in to connect to NBN. Note: An NBN service can only be assigned to units with their own separate address. If the granny flat is sharing the same address with the primary dwelling, then the NBN service will also need to be shared by extending it from the primary dwelling.
Fiber technology requires a conduit pathway to be installed both externally and internally, as well as having the connection box (NTD) requirements. The external underground lead-in conduit provides the premise pathway from the property boundary to the mounting location of the external NBN box (PCD). The internal wall cavity conduit pathway extends from the external NBN box location to the desired indoor location of the NBN connection box (NTD). The connection box also requires an AC power supply general purpose outlet (GPO) supplying 240V, and a wall mounting space of 565 X 325 mm in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Working with a trained supplier will ensure the installation is built right the first time to correct standard, avoid remediation costs and delays.
