Renovating a Property

Sort out your NBN assets to avoid reconnection charges & delays

As a general rule, NBN assets and infrastructure connected to any property should be safely removed by an authorised personal before undergoing any renovations to the mounting walls or underground infrastructure, not only to avoid costly fees for repairs, replacement and lengthy reconnection delays, but because they are the property of NBN and are protected by law.
Also, if renovating then no new addresses are being created, so any existing connection will need to be preserved to avoid any service disruptions, costly replacements and reconnection delays. Renovations do not fall under the NBN New Development application umbrella, as there are no new addresses being created, so the costs for repairs and reconnection are much more hefty then those of New Developments.

Renovating Indoors

Similarly, if you are renovating and your indoor NTD NBN box is in the way of your plans, you should lodge an application with NBN to relocate it to a new area, or remove it and have it reinstalled after the reno is complete. This will avoid NBN asset replacement and unnecessary technician remediation and installation costs.
